in a time of systemic collapse, what is left to hold onto?
that which has always been here and always will be:
the vast community of life on earth
— our ancestors, the elements, the living world itself.
how do we counteract the de-sanctification of our relationship with life? by listening. by re-entering the intricate web of interdependce that lies at the heart of creation. by making the soil come alive again – literally, socio-culturally and ancestrally.
in europe, the rupture of direct, relational teachings on how to live in sacred reciprocity with land and life — and the (ongoing) colonial projects that followed — have left many of us disoriented. attempting to rebuild a communal way of relating alone can feel confusing and overwhelming. we were never meant to do it in isolation. relationality implies relationship.
this container is not a quick route to animist embodiment.
it is not a linear manual for building a “correct” practice.
it is an invitation to sit with the separation we have inherited through systems of white supremacy and patriarchy, and to create a safe space for the parts of us that feel unsure: unsure how to pray, how to offer, how to listen, how to approach ancestral forces in all their forms.
no practice built without tending to the root of separation will flourish — nor will one that leaves out the aliveness, beauty and richness of being in kindship with earth.
in so called „civilization“, embodied reverence has often been disciplined out of us. the loss of animist worhsip leaves many searching elsewhere for intact protocols of relationship. because in the „western“ context, we may feel the earth’s beauty, but we lack the forms and permission to praise her openly — to speak to land, water and wind without embarrassment or self-censorship.
as we inspect and care for our roots — naming what has been damaged, releasing what is no longer alive — we begin to water what remains. we stop searching for the “right way” and begin to let the knowing of our birthright unfurl inside of us: the capacity to love the earth and be in relationship with her as our living ancestor.
from this place, relationship becomes embodied.
the sacred and the mundane begin to re-marry in lived reality, as they once did in our lineages.
from there, the love that emerges through communion with the more-than-human world can reveal itself — uniquely, and in its own time — to each of us.
EARTH AS ANCESTOR is a 5-week relational container that explores how we can live in deeper relationship with the earth as our ancestor in this moment in time — not symbolically, but relationally.
this is not about adopting an animist identity, reviving a specific tradition, or learning “the right way“ to practice.
it is about relearning how to address the living world with sincerity, reverence, and responsibility, from within our own lives, places, and lineages.
the work unfolds through:
- being witnessed and in company on our shared and indiviual journey of unbecoming and re-weaving belonging into this moment
- transmissions on understanding the wider context of the separation we were born into
- shared reflection, inquiry, and group practices exploring relationality in lived and embodied ways.
- lineage awareness of & also beyond blood and identity
- mapping language, gesture, and offering as relational acts. practicing the art of noticing — trees and plants, animals, weather, and seasonal movements — as a way to weave our own webs of relationship and meaning.
- exploring myth as the language of the soul: a way of speaking about what is, what has been, and what calls to be tended or restored.
this space is designed to be held, paced, and communal, because relationship cannot be rebuilt in isolation.

- a guided, relational space held over six weeks
- rooted in universal animist values: interdependence, humility, listening and care
- aknowledging the wounds of separation & the vast memory of relationality in our bones
- focused on capacity-building, not mastery
- attentive to land, lineage, and context
- grounded in lived site-specific practice rather than theory
- an invitation into embodied praise for the earth, in whichever way that feels authentic to each of us.
- a space to actively acknowledge the ancient intelligence of the earth and to seek guidance for navigating the overlapping crises of our time.

- it is not therapy
- it is not a space to perform guilt, shame, or accusation — whether directed toward oneself or toward others. while histories of harm, supremacy, and dispossession are acknowledged, this container is not oriented around processing personal or collective guilt, nor around projecting anger or responsibility onto those present. participants are invited to arrive from where they are and to orient together toward restoring relationship with the earth.
- it is not a shamanic initiation
- it is not cultural reconstruction
- it is not a certification or training
- it is not a role-play of indigeneity

YOUR TEACHER

i, katharina louise, will be the main space holder of this container.
this invitation — this posture, this way of approaching relationship — has been fermenting and composting over many years. it grew out of a persistent questioning: what led to the rupture between humans and land, and how the seeds of colonialism, patriarchy, and white supremacy took root long before they became global systems.
my research led me deep into animist, pre-christian cultures of what is now called europe, and into the histories of their violent interruption: the dismantling of land-based, oral, and often female-led domains of healing, herbalism, and spiritual authority. in this, i found both grief and a certain kind of comfort — the knowing that we, too, descend from peoples who knew how to live in reciprocity with land and more-than-human life.
what i offer, however, is not reconstruction or revival. the embodied core of my work is rooted in practicing not-knowing. in order to re-enter a true space of listening, we have to loosen the western conditioning that seeks mastery, identification, and certainty as a way to feel safe in practice.
an animist lens, as i understand and live it, is not about belief, but about returning to interdependence — to enter into reality as a living myth, we want to flower into a state of wonder and presence in which we can become aware of the web of relations we already are a part of. rather than seeking results, enlightenment, or material to feed an ego of specialness, the invitation i hold is to be with what is, in all its facets. becoming the offering. building a home for our grief, washing our windows and leaving flowers in them, so the miracles of the old ways can find us.
