following the light of the sun, we will meet one more time on tempelhofer feld for a foraging walk, connecting with the final wave of summer plants that are ripe around this time and processing some of them in a collective cooking session at feldfoodforest. lughnasad or lammas, is a point in the pagan calendar wheel of the year, in between the summer solstice and fall equinox and opposite of imbolc. this time was and is a moment of felt duality: reaching the peak of summer & abundance while simultaneously acknowledging the endings that live within that moment, as it was represented in the first harvest of grain back in the day. the first cutting of grain, was a communal ritual act, also heavily informed by the image of the grain mother or solar sun sacrificing themselves for life to continue. we will acknowledge the drama in equal parts with celebration, make an offering to the land to give thanks (always), gather herbs & cook & share food together. as always i will share with you about the medicinal & mythical significance of the plants we encounter and the stories of the old ways of our ancestors to weave them into our contemporary experience, like a gentle breath to orient ourselves in the simplicity of: our bodies ~ earth, sun, moon.

dear creatures of the enchanted swamp called berlin, I am warmly inviting you to meet me for the solstice weekend in the peoples temple (the feld! the place where our spirits can breathe, the wind has a dance floor and the sun can really have a good look at us). when all of life in the northern hemisphere is drunk on solar power, so are the medicinal herbs that we will gather and that have been traditionally harvested around the solstice. making smudging bundles to bless us with light in darker days to come and crowning ourselves with the bountiful beauty of the land. the flower wreath is not a decoration, but a protection and a declaration of what made us and keeps making us (earth of course).

the second mythic plant walk of the year will take place in the middle of foraging season around berlin (location tba). in this time of the year the landscape is intensely green & so many plants are in their most vital form! the plants & trees we will encounter on the path, will get their own introduction, touching on their medicinal benefits, their context in european folklore herbalism & myth & on top of that I will give culinary tips on how to prepare some of them. we do full spectrum, yes! another facet of our time together will be me sharing some of the pagan lore & tradition around the upcoming summer solstice with you, sharing ideas on how you can celebrate in a way that honors the relationship with the land & seasons.
